I work surrounded by the natural colours and wild life of my base in Gloucestershire and enticed by the colours, textures and stories of the wools with which I work I hand felt my head wear from carefully selected natural and occasionally dyed fleeces.
I love the spontaneous process of these creations and their journey from raw fleece to finished piece..It is alchemy which is a joy to see continue when they come to life with the charm and movement of the wearer.
Since I can remember I have been surrounded by this wonderfully sculptural and ancient textile. My mother is a felt maker and built a yurt which she lined with felt panels.. we spent many a night as children looking up at these whilst singing, giggling and telling stories..one of the panels was a montage of beautiful animals real and imagined which I would identify and name as I was drfifting into sleep. So it began, so it continues..
